Never get bored with pancakes !

I could never say no to pancakes. Those flat and round cakes served with a scoop of ice cream, chocolate syrup, fruit jam, maple syrup or honey. The charm of pancakes has always successfully made me to try and eat them. In the mean time, I post my homemade pancakes. And on my next one will be about my culinary journey on a pancake and waffle restaurant in Jakarta. It's going to be pancake series this month, the last month of this year.

Keep calm & drink rose buds water

I really enjoy my time every weekend making myself a cup of rose buds water. It's a fragrant simple drink, enjoy it sip by sip while watching TV. It gives me a feeling of calmness, relaxation and soothing to my body. Especially on rainy days like these days. Rain accompanied by strong winds almost every day. Puddles throughout the city make the inevitable traffic jams everywhere ! One word to describe it, STRESSFUL !!

Resto Review : "Be Good with Yogurt inspired food" with Heavenly Blush

Who can resist a food tasting invitation from a restaurant ? First time I heard about Heavenly Blush food tasting from my friend, Anne, I volunteered myself to be the host immediately. The food tasting and food blogger gathering programme called "Be good with yogurt inspired food" took place in Heavenly Blush Restaurant, Pondok Indah Mall 2 on October 27, 2013. But as we had a chance to taste one of three meals they offered, we also had to face the photo challenge. Fun, right ? :)

Remake : Chocolate and matcha steamed cupcakes

Looking back at my previous post 2 years ago, where I have posted a steamed cupcake recipe. Old-fashioned steamed cupcake I remember from my childhood. Mom used to buy me cat face-shaped steamed cakes every time we go to the hospital for a monthly check-up. The cake was too cute to eat and I didn't even want to share the cake to my younger sister and brother. I was a selfish sister back then. :D

New blog name and Corn Pudding

Woohoo... I finally have a new name for my blog, Cooking Chapter. Few names came up in the way before I finally choose this name. Some of them are already being used by someone else and some are too long for a blog name. I want a simple and memorable name that represents me personally and my hobby. Until in the last minute, I was thinking about a book with chapters. And boom....the new chapter begin.... :)

Let's celebrate my happy moment with this beautiful corn pudding. Soft and delicate, lovely yellow color from the sweet corn. I just love them all. I really want to celebrate it in a decent way. But I am holding it off until early next year, in my fourth blogiversary. :)

Earlier last month, I made this pudding based on the ingredients I have in the kitchen, no recipe and no measurement. It taste good, though it need some adjustments in the recipe. But then I made it again with exact measurements and write it all down, so I could share it here.

Enjoy.....

Tamarillo Smoothie

(Homemade) - Tamarillo smoothie

Juice or smoothie ? I misinterpreted the meaning of those words all along. According to some sources I've found on the internet, juice and smoothie are different and they produced from different machines.

Juice is fruits and/or vegetables extract. By using a juicer you will get fresh liquid from the fruits or veggies. It's because juicer separates juice from the pulp. While smoothie is a blended of whole fruit (please remove skin and seeds before you blend it in a blender) and/or vegetable (or could be a mix of fruit and vegetable). The consistency of a smoothie is thick and rich in fiber. Based on the above explanation, the drink I made this time is a smoothie.

Hi everyone, good to be back again here. Been away for some photography projects and still have an upcoming project with my friends. I can't imagine how to manage my time with another extra activities and responsibilities, the hectic and the busy schedule. But deep in my heart I'm happy and very grateful for everything. I wish everything will work out for the best in the end. Aamiin.

I had been coughing for days when I decided to make this smoothie. My energy had drained from my body after I finished the photography project with my friend. Lacking of sleep and skipping lunch break made my condition even worst ! Do you know that lack of sleep can make you a little bit foggy ? I've been there and that is so true. :D

To boost my energy and immune system up, I need vitamin C from natural sources. The richest vitamin C sources are of course from fruits and vegetables  We can find an easy and healthy way to enjoy mixed fruits through juice or smoothie. This time I made tamarillo smoothie with a little bit honey, milk and ice. So freaking fresh !! This one is an amazing healing drink.

Tamarillo or terong Belanda (Dutch eggplant) is an egg-shaped fruit native to South America. It has a unique flavor, a combination of tomato and passionfruit. Tamarillos are high in vitamin C and nutritious.

Chocolate to try : Chocolate crinkle cookies

Eid is approaching ! It also means long holiday is coming. Only in few days all Moslem across the globe will be having their winning celebration. Yes, it is a celebration that marks the end of the holy month Ramadhan. A moment full of forgiveness, togetherness and happiness. After a month of fasting, we experience hunger and thirst and bring us closer to Allah. Now let me wish you "May your life be filled with peace and happiness. Have a joyous celebration and showers of Allah's blessings. Aamiin"

In this long religious Eid al Fitr holiday , we usually visit our closest relatives and neighbors to wish and greet them Eid Mubarak. It's a tradition that after Ramadan ends, every family will serve special meals for the entire family member and their guests. Traditional menus like ketupat (rice cook in coconut leaves wrapper), sayur lodeh (Betawinese vegetable in coconut milk soup), opor ayam (chicken braised in coconut milk) , sambal goreng ati (spicy chicken liver), semur (Betawinese beef stew), setup kolang-kaling (palm sugar fruit compote) can be easily found during Eid. Thankfully that my family and my husband's family always serve different kind of dishes. My mom usually cook Betawinese style ketupat sayur with opor and semur which are amazingly delicious and the best ones ever. While my mother-in-law cook Soto Surabaya (Surabaya style flavorful chicken soup).

Although I don't cook special dishes for Eid but I definitely bake some cookies. It's because I'll be at my mom's house or my mother-in-law's during Eid. Beside mom will also gives me some of the dishes for me to take home and that would be more than enough for the three of us (me, hubby and son). One of the intriguing cookie I wanted to make was Chocolate crinkle cookies. I called it "The ugly beauty". There are cracks everywhere but those what make these cookies look pretty. And I fell hard for its shape, cracks and taste.

I got the recipe from here and did some adjustments according to my liking. I'll leave you with the story and photos of the cookies for now, I'll be back with the recipe by the end of the day. Here's what I've done so far with the recipe and you may check it out below.

My Ramadhan special guest post on Yummy Food

In this holy month of Ramadhan, let me wish everyone a very happy, peaceful and blessed Ramadhan. May Allah shower His countless blessings upon us in this holy month. Aamiin. Serving special homemade meals for family is a fun thing to do. How we can gather as a family and enjoy iftar meals together. I do enjoy my free time during weekend to cook our family favorite food. Only to see beautiful smiles on my hubby's and my son's face then tell me how they love my homemade dishes.

One of the famous Ramadhan blog event I know is Joy From Fasting to Feasting hosted by Lubna Karim from Yummy Food. On its sixth year of the event, Lubna asked me to do a special post for her. And I made this special Sweet potato balls with coconut sugar syrup for her. An Indonesian traditional snack that is often eaten as iftar meal. Please check the complete story and recipe over her blog. See you there !

Resto Review : Enjoy the summer with Summer Beverages @ EXCELSO

EXCELSO .....

As a part of the Kapal Api Group, EXCELSO has emerged as a well-known local coffee brand in Indonesia. In September 1991, the first EXCELSO Cafe was opened in Plaza Indonesia. EXCELSO has grown to become one of  the strongest and recognized coffee shop brands in Indonesia ever since. And now there are currently more than 100 outlets across Indonesia. EXCELSO Cafe is a place for coffee lovers to enjoy coffee with the best quality. Yes ... you'll get a cup of coffee from freshly ground coffee beans and brewed just after you ordered.

THE GATHERING....

On June 29, 2013, EXCELSO was kindly invited some Indonesian Food Blogger (idfb) members to taste EXCELSO's Summer Beverages. The gathering was held at EXCELSO Cafe, Kota Kasablanka. For coffee lover, of course this the right place for you. But if you don't like coffee or you prefer a beverage with mild flavor of coffee, no biggie. EXCELSO is still the right place to hang out with your dearest ones as well because EXCELSO provides other menu items beside coffee. Assorted freeze, frappio and other beverages such as tea, chocolate, milk shakes and much more. EXCELSO also offers pastas, soups, salads, sandwiches in case you get hungry.

The gathering was officially opened with a warm welcome speech from Monivia P as EXCELSO Public & Media Relation. Followed by an explanation of their products Summer Beverages and Summer Holiday promo by Hanny A Elvind, the Marketing Communications Manager. One best thing about summer is the season to enjoy fruits. Now, let me show you how to stay cool in the summer with EXCELSO.

SUMMER BEVERAGES AND THE FOODS.....

Every each of us (the invited food bloggers) was given a chance to choose one out of five Summer Beverages variant to be reviewed. And Banana Split Frappio was the one I chose. Banana Split Frappio is a mixture of ice, cold coffee, banana, chocolate syrup and strawberry sauce, garnished with whipped cream peanuts and cherry. I think I made the right choice, I liked it till the last drop :D

Want to try Fruit Punch with coffee ? No, you didn't misread it. This is the creation from EXCELSO, tropical fruit punch with coffee flavor. You will find a unique sensation from the freshness of fruits and coffee in a glass of Maharani.

Banana Split Freeze is almost similar to Banana Split Frappio but this one without the using of coffee. Blended mixture of banana, chocolate syrup and strawberry sauce topped with whipped cream and cherry. Let say you have banana split in a glass :) .

What do you see in the photo above ? I see sexiness inside the glass and in love with its color and texture. Summer Splash Freeze is combination of mixed berries and ice that creates thick texture. Perfectly match for a hot summer day.

For Decorating and Photo Competition, yet again, another full glasses of Maui Fruit Punch for everyone. Mixture of blended banana, pineapple chunks, cherry, lychees, pineapple juice and orange juice and strawberry syrup to make it more interesting.
Thanks to Anne for the ribbon and doily. :)

Crispy Cass is fried spring rolls with softened fermented cassava filling. Serve on a plate and drizzle with sweetened condensed milk. The dessert look fancy with chocolate shaved and grated cheese sprinkled on top. Crispy Cass has subtle flavor of fermented cassava perfectly combined with fried crispy thin wrapper. My word for Crispy Cass is "it fits my taste !"

EXCELSO Club Sandwich, you will not get only sandwich but also french fries. Layers of bread, grilled chicken slices, smoked beef, sliced egg, onion, tomato, sliced cucumber and lettuce served with tomato and chili sauce. What a perfect meal to end up the gathering that day.

PROMOTION..... "Summer Holiday @ EXCELSO"
